After we adopted Mijo, we both wanted to give back to the rescue group and decided to volunteer with MWBTR. We started helping out with home visits, store events, and slowly worked our way into fostering. I'll never forget our first foster, she was a senior girl "Rosie" found as a stray and taken to a kill shelter. MWBTR found out about her and pulled her from the shelter. When we got her, she smelled astrocious, she was going blind, she had tumors on her body and her breath was horrible. We took her home, gave her two baths and let her sniff and bump her way through the house over the course of the next few days. She turned out to be a great little foster buddy, learned to chew on toys for the first time. (She was a breeding dog, left in a cage only to be taken out during her heat cycle.) After almost a year with us, Rosie passed away from kidney failure due to the heart meds she was taking. Since then and over the course of 2 1/2 years, we have helped 16 (and counting) foster dogs find their way to their forever homes.
I wanted to start a blog to share my hobby of photography and give back to these animals in need. I am donating a portion of my pet photography proceeds to the rescue groups in hopes that we can save more lives and give them a new future. I always say "every little bit counts".
